hello again readers. tracking back my previous post, it was written somewhere in June 2010. more than a year ago. subhanallah, how time flies..

By now, I have completed my undergraduate degree and am currently studying towards my Master degree. ME in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The Uni of Auckland. and as expected, life gets busier and tougher as we move on. sesungguhnya hidup di dunia bukanlah untuk bersenang lenang..

I am out of words. Will update when I have the idea + time to write.

Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Allah hu Akbar, syukur pada Allah atas segala nikmat yg diperoleh hingga ke saat ini… setelah lama tidak update blog, tiba-tiba diri ini terpanggil untuk berkongsi pendapat tentang isu yang sedang hangat diperkatakan sejak akhir-akhir ini… ya, isu saudara seagama kita, isu palestin…

Saat mendengar berita perbuatan kejam Israel ke atas sukarelawan di atas kapal mavi marmara, bercampur baur perasaan dalam diri ini. Marah, geram, tak puas hati.. semuanya ada…

Laman web facebook menjadi antara medium utama umat manusia melepaskan kemarahan dan menunjukkan keprihatinan masing-masing. Status facebook, video you tube, facebook note, profile picture… semuanya berkisar tentang isu palestin.. isu gaza.. bagus, memang bagus. Bersyukur melihat semangat yang ada pada semua.

Negara di seluruh dunia juga sibuk berdemonstrasi. Tak kira kaum, agama dan bangsa, semuanya turut menyertai demonstrasi. Hujah-hujah bernas dan ucapan-ucapan penuh semangat tidak ketinggalan sewaktu berdemonstrasi. Bendera Israel habis dibakar. Bagus, memang bagus.

Tapi diri ini khuatir, sekiranya usaha umat manusia ini terhenti di situ sahaja. Kemarahan umat manusia ini akan mula reda. Profile picture dan status di facebook juga akan mula bertukar. Umat manusia kembali sibuk dan fokus pada urusan dunia masing-masing. Israel pula seolah-olah langsung tidak gentar dengan tindakan umat manusia yang giat berdemonstrasi. Israel tahu kemarahan dan bantahan yang ditunjukkan manusia tidak akan berlarutan. Israel tetap melakukan kekejaman mereka. Bantuan ke gaza tetap disekat mereka. Bilakah semua drama ini akan berakhir??!

Perkongsian rakan-rakan tempoh hari berkenaan isu ini, sedikit sebanyak membuka mata dan minda diri ini. (diharapkan agar kesedaran ini juga bukan kesedaran yg sementara, bukan kesedaran yang bermusim). Tidak cukup sekadar berdemonstrasi tanpa disusuli tindakan yang seterusnya. Apa peranan kita? Apa yang perlu kita lakukan untuk mengakhiri drama yg dicetuskan oleh Israel sejak bertahun-tahun lamanya..?

Israel tidak akan jatuh selagi umat islam sendiri tak bersatu. Selagi umat islam masih berbalah dan berkonflik sesama sendiri, selagi itulah Israel akan terus bermaharajalela. Jadi bagi yang sudah tahu keadaan sebenar, sudah tahu agenda sebenar orang Israel, bangkitlah dan bertindak! Bagaimana? Mulakanlah dengan bertindak ke atas diri sendiri. Kunci kepada pembentukan sebuah negara atau empayar Islam yang gemilang bermula dengan individu muslim. Samalah seperti kalau hendak membina sebuah bangunan tinggi yang kuat, kukuh dan gah, mestilah bermula dengan membina rangka yg diperbuat dari besi keluli yg kuat. Latihlah diri menjadi seorang muslim yang mengamalkan cara hidup Islam secara keseluruhan yakni dari segi pergaulan, pemakaian, pemakanan, pertuturan dan seterusnya.. berhentilah memberi alasan untuk tidak melaksankan semua perintah Allah setelah sampainya kebenaran pada kamu…

Bagaimana ingin jadi muslim yang digeruni Israel sekiranya solat pun di akhir waktu, sering mengeluh dengan perkara-perkara remeh dan kecil, menghabiskan waktu dengan perkara yang tidak mendatangkan faedah, dan banyak lagi. Malah budaya dan cara hidup zaman ini lebih kepada ‘menyokong’ israel dan kuncu-kuncunya. Lihat sahaja fashion dan cara berpakaian yang mendedahkan aurat serta segala bentuk hiburan yang melekakan, ‘master mind-nya’ adalah zionis! Bagi orang Israel, bentuk penentangan yang hebat ke atas mereka ialah sekiranya umat manusia semuanya mengamalkan cara hidup islam yang sebenar. Firman Allah dalam Al-Quran yang bermaksud:

“Sekali-kali tidak redha orang Yahudi dan Nasrani sehingga kamu mengikut millah (cara hidup) mereka.”

Adakah kita lebih mementingkan keterampilan kita dengan mengenakan barangan berjenama produk Israel daripada saudara-saudara seagama kita yang pakaian mereka berlumuran darah dan mederita di palestin? Adakah kita lebih mengutamakan selera makan kita dengan membeli makanan produk Israel seperti Mc Donalds, Starbucks, produk-produk Nestle dan banyak lagi sedangkan saudara seagama kita di palestin kebuluran? Bila disentuh sahaja isu boikot ini, saya pasti ada pihak yang mungkin akan kurang berpuas hati dan mengatakan bahawa laptop yg saya gunakan untuk taip entry ini juga merupakan sebahagian daripada produk Israel dan laman facebook yang digunakan ramai untuk tujuan menyebarkan maklumat tentang Israel juga asalnya merupakan produk Israel. Ya, anda tidak salah! Tapi cuba fikir balik, kita mesti cuba boikot barangan israel yang tidak mendatangkan faedah pada agama kita, boikot barang yang ada banyak alternatif lain. Jadi tak salahlah kalau kita guna facebook untuk sebarkan maklumat dan bongkar kekejaman Israel, gunakan kelebihan-kelebihan teknolgi yang mereka cipta untuk kembali menjatuhkan mereka! Gunakan produk mereka sebagai 'senjata' untuk melawan mereka. Jadi, nampak tak rasionalnya di situ?

Teruslah berusaha melahirkan individu muslim dengan menyeru orang sekeliling untuk turut mengamalkan cara hidup Islam yang sebenar agar di akhirat kelak kita tidak dipersoalkan tentang tanggugjawab kita sewaktu di dunia. Sampaikanlah kebenaran. Jadilah saksi kepada kebenaran. Setiap yang terkandung di-dalam Al-Quran itu benar. Di dalamnya tertulis perkara yang telah terjadi, sedang terjadi dan akan terjadi. Semoga kita tidak tergolong dalam golongan orang yang meysesal di hari pengakhiran.

Kemenangan Islam itu datangnya dari Allah. Tapi sunnatullahnya, umat Islam mesti berusaha untuk mencapai kemenangan itu. Banyak atau sedikitnya orang Islam bukan faktor utama kemenangan. Sudah cukup banyak sejarah peperangan zaman Rasulullah yang membuktikan bahawa kekuatan dan bilangan tentera musuh serta kecanggihan senjata mereka bukanlah penghalang kepada kemenangan Islam. Kurangnya kesatuan umat islam itu sendiri yang menjadi penghalang utama untuk mengalahkan Israel. Ingatlah, kesatuan Islam itu bermula dari individu yang patuh dan taat pada suruhan Allah. Islam itu dikatakan kuat setelah bilangan orang Islam yang solat subuh berjemaah sama dengan bilangan orang Islam yang solat Jumaat. Jadi, apakah kedudukan umat islam sekarang?

Islam pasti menang. Janji Allah itu benar. Jadilah orang yang menyumbang kepada kemenangan islam dan bukan hanya menyaksikan sahaja kemenangan itu!

Alhamdulillah.. praise be to Allah for all the things He has award me with until today..

Allah never fails to answer anyone’s prayer. He will either grant your wish now, or He will replace it with something better, or He will give you benefit in the life hereafter.

Sometimes, we don't realize that a thing which we might not seem to like in the first place turns out to be something really beneficial and great for us. I have experience quite a number of experiences in life that has taught me to be thankful with what I have. But sometimes, when the tough situation arrives, it’s kind of hard for me to remind myself about this fact. That is why I think the environment you live in is really important. I am really grateful that I have the opportunity to live in an environment where people always remind me of Allah and remind me of one important thing that is really for sure going to happen; that is death.

The chance of spending the summer here in Auckland is a precious gift from Allah. And yes it’s sad to say that it has almost reached an end. Summer research project itself has been completed. The journal for the research has been submitted and approved by my supervisor, alhamdulillah. Within less than 2 weeks, I am left with 1 page of journal (for the conference), prepare presentation slides, and complete the practical work report. Hopefully everything will be done before my last day of work which is less than 2 weeks from now. Throughout the summer research project, unpredicted things just pop up into my life from time to time. (will tell more about it later when the time comes). Allah Maha hebat rencanaNya..

This coming Monday is a public holiday and I am really looking forward for tomorrow’s event =). May all the things I do are within His blessings. I will post pictures of tomorrow’s event insyaAllah in the next post ye! =)

the power of forgiving

Once the Prophet (pbuh) was sitting with a group of pious companions in Masjid Nabwi in Madina. They were listening to the Prophet (pbuh) when he (pbuh) stopped and said, "The next person to come through the door is a person who will be entered into Jannah!"

The people stopped and awaited the arrival of this special person. Just then, Sa'd Ibn Abi Waqaas (R) walked through the door and everyone was really happy. Sa'd was a very respected and much loved Muslim. He was also related to our Prophet (pbuh) because he was from the tribe of his mother (Amina).

In another gathering, Our Prophet (pbuh) again said, "The next person to come through the door is a person who will be entered into Jannah!" Everyone waited excitedly and again Sa'd walked into the Mosque.

In a third gathering, our Prophet (pbuh) said the same thing and again Sa'd walked through the door. One of the companions, who was in the gathering, wanted to know what made Sa'd such a special person that he will be entered into Paradise. The man decided that he would stay with Sa'd and see what kind of super worship he does which will give him such a great reward in the next life.

After three days, the man noticed that Sa'd does not do anything special compared to any of the other companions. The man was a little puzzled so he decided to ask Sa'd why he was given this special status.

Sa'd (r) explained to him that the only thing he does different is that before he goes to bed he forgives everyone that may have done anything wrong to him. The man realised that this was the great action which would make Sa'd entered into Jannah.

As human beings, we always make mistakes. Sometimes, we don't even realize that any of our actions or words may hurt other people's feelings. And sometimes, if we do realize our mistakes towards other people, we just cant figure out the right way to say sorry. Everything will be a lot more easier and the world will be a better place if everyone take Sa'd Ibn Abi Waqaas (R) as an example. So, do forgive each other. Appreciate the 'power of forgiving'.

Alhamdulillah.. Praise be to Allah, events that took place for the past few days managed to make me appreciate the value of time even more. If you know the purpose and aims in life, you will realize that you have a lot of things to learn to lead you to what you aimed for in life. Life is NOT all about completing your education, get a degree, get a good job, good carrier, build a family, have kids, and own all the luxurious things that the earth has to offer and that you think you have reached your target in life. That’s not it. You might deny this fact but this is a very typical ‘life cycle’ that is playing around in most people's head.

If a person actually knows the purpose of life i.e. why is he created on earth, and from where he come and to whom he shall return, life will be more than just the typical ‘life cycle’. A person would be a better person if he realizes that life on earth is just temporary. The intention of all our actions must be for the sake of Allah, to get His blessings and hope that we’ll be placed in His Jannah in the everlasting life of hereafter.

To know and to realize alone is not enough if it is not accompanied by any actions. We have to ACT according to what we BELIEVE. Practice life as a Muslim and not just be a Muslim by the name.

Indeed those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them are the Gardens of Pleasure [31:8]

I spent the past two days with dear friends doing activities that I rarely get a chance to do. Last Wednesday, we went for horse riding at Pakiri beach. And the next day we went for strawberry picking (finally) in Albany. Praise be to Allah, a lot of lesson learned throughout the 2 days journey. Also, thanks to dear friends for the time spent together. Uhibbukifillah. Pictures will be uploaded later insyaAllah.

Assalamualaikum…

It has been ages I know since I post an entry here. Well, the main reason for that is I don’t really have a topic or subject to talk about. By the way, the title does not has anything to do with this entry. It's just a title to one of my favorite maher zain's songs. hee =)

So far, summer holiday has been great for me alhamdulillah. Summer research project is showing some progress. I just hope that my SV will not put too high expectation on the outcome of the research project. I really don’t want to disappoint my SV. I hope Allah will guide me throughout this research project.

For those of you who are interested to know about the research project I am working on, I am basically dealing with 3D magnetic modelling using this software called JMAG. It’s a really powerful software which allows 3D analysis of the magnetic field, current density etc on a particular model. JMAG is normally used to investigate IPT related problems.

As for my project, I have to design a pickup coil for a wireless charging pad. The wireless charging pad available in market today has magnetic fields perpendicular to its platform, arranged in the same direction. This configuration however leads to cancellation of magnetic field in certain areas of the platform due to the nature of magnetic field. Due to this reason, we are now using a platform which has magnetic field parallel to the platform with less cancellation effect. With the new proposed method, we hope insya Allah that the power transfer will be more efficient. Simulation results from JMAG up to this point have shown positive feedback. But it’s still early to make any conclusion. Heaps of simulations and data collection need to be done before I can clarify anything. I am just hoping for the best and I hope this tiny bit of my research in this area will one day make a significant contribution in the IPT field insyaAllah. Ameen… =)

Ok enough about project. Despite being busy working on the project, I still feel like I have not been using my time wise enough for the past 5 weeks. I should have done more beneficial things during this summer break. . hmmm.. I have a long list of things need to be done but I am not taking it seriously. I need to do something about this! huhu

Anyway, hope it’s not too late to wish everyone ‘salam maal hijrah’

"Pelajarilah ilmu pengetahuan. Mempelajari ilmu demi keredhaan Allah (sama dengan) takut (kepada Allah). Menuntut ilmu adalah ibadah, mengingatinya adalah tasbih, meneliti kebenarannya adalah perjuangan (di jalan Allah), mengajarkannya kepada yang belum mengetahui adalah sedekah, menyebarkannya kepada keluarga adalah taqarrub (pendekatan diri kepada Allah), kerana ilmu adalah tanda-tanda (yang membezakan) halal dan haram, serta cahaya yang menerangi jalan para ahli syurga. Ia (ilmu) adalah ketenangan dalam kesepian, sahabat dalam keadaan seorang diri, teman bicara dalam kesunyian, petunjuk dalam keadaan susah dan senang, senjata dalam menghadapi musuh dan keindahan bagi para sahabat karib. stepping into my final year!

Alhamdulillah…the hectic days of my third year has finally come to an end. Everything seemed to happen so fast. I don’t know exactly what to write now. There’s just so many things that took place this semester that add more colors to the chapter of my life.

I guess people are right when they say that we manage our time best when we are really busy.

My days are more productive when I have so many things to do. Readers of this blog may know how much I have spent my time in the UG labs, completing the design project. It’s like my second home. oh well, I'm definitely coming back to ug lab next year. Huhu. We EE students could spend like more than 12 hours a day in the lab, starting as early as 8am until as late as 12pm. and you can’t imagine how stuffy and hot the lab is after 5pm because air-conditioner or any air-ventilation-machine is switched off after 5pm but we still remain there patiently despite the boiling temperature. huhu.

Working on a project with group members of not our choice is a challenge for me and for anyone else I guess. No matter how much effort you put in the project or how much work you have done in the project, all the members in the group will roughly get the same marks, same grade even if they didn’t contribute much in the project. So, what motivates me to complete this project is being sincere at what I am doing and I hope all my effort is count as a form of ‘ibadah’ insyaAllah.

My group was the last group to be interviewed. I have waited so long for this time to come. The interview went well I guess. I felt so free right after the interview. After being really busy for the past 3 months, everything just ended in 30 minutes! Well overall, I can say that I enjoy the design project as much as I hate it. hehe.

Okey, enough about design. Final exams coming up soon and then comes the summer research project. For the first time, I will be spending my summer here in NZ! I will be working on a summer research project with one of the lecturer from the ECE Department on a topic related to IPT. I'm really thankful to Allah for giving me such opportunity. This summer work will be included in my internship hours. I just need another 200 hours to complete the requirement. I will definitely go back to m’sia once the 10 weeks of internship is over. I don’t care if it will only be 1 or 2 weeks of holiday in m’sia. I still want to go back! Huhu

For the past few weeks/months, many may have noticed that disasters had taken place in so many places all around the world. I don’t have to mention what/where because I’m sure you are aware of them. I had conversations with friends at uni about this and some react positively by having the determination to change and be a better Muslim while some just say they will change later and enjoy life first. See? People live as if they are confident that they will be alive the next day. If you think you need to change for the better, change now. Do not wait until tomorrow. Because when tomorrow comes, you will keep saying the same thing, over and over again.

2 Kamu sangka bahawa kamu cinta kepada Rasululllah tetapi kamu tidak beramal dengannya
3 Kamu telah membaca Quran, tetapi tidak beramal dengannya
4 Kamu telah makan nimkat Allah tetapi tidak mensyukuriNya
5 Kamu telah berkata syaitan itu musuh kamu tetapi kamu tidak menentangnya
6 Kamu telah berkata bahawa syurga itu benar tetapi kamu tidak beramal untuknya
7 Kamu telah berkata neraka itu benar tetapi kamu tidak lari daripadanya

stop complaining nadhiya

Ever since semester 2 of my third year starts, I have been complaining too much on too many stuff. I complain a lot even on the smallest thing a person should complain about. At certain times, I feel so bad and guilty for acting such a way but then I still repeat the same thing.

I know when I complain, it shows that I am not thankful with what God has gave me. I think the reason I complain too much is I expect too much from other people. I put really high expectations on other people and when they fail to meet my expectation, I start complaining. I get mad at people so easily lately. I’m sorry people if you happen to be one of my victims. And I always have really high aims in life, in my academic life to be precise and at one point, I asked myself, is this good thing or a bad thing? I’m saying it could be a bad thing because I will work so hard to achieve what I want as if I am sure that I am going to live long enough to get to that point of time where I get what I want. This is definitely wrong because we never know how long we can live. We don’t even know whether there is a tomorrow for us.

This whole phenomenon really made me think. I am aware that everything that happened in my life has been predetermined by Allah. And in my prayers, I will always pray for the best. The hardness I am going through might be ‘the best’ thing for me from Allah and Allah never fails to answer our prayers. It seems easy for me to say it out or write it out in terms of word, but when it comes to implementation, it’s not that easy.

I know I should stop complaining, be thankful of what Allah has gave me, and not put high expectations on other people, but for some reason I just don’t know how to tell myself to do it. i don’t want to have the habit of complaining stuck with me for my whole life.

So I guess… the purpose of me writing this is entry is to let you know… when you see me start complaining, just remind me about how temporary life on earth is, and that I should not be too worry or sad if things does not go the way I planned/want it to be…and that the life of hereafter is what we should aim for.

Btw, I am done with 2 tests. Another 2 tests to go. Plus 1 report, I project interview, and 3 final exams. May Allah make it easy for me.

Ramadhan is Here

One night I heard a knock on my door;
Who can it be, I wasn't quite sure.
I opened the door and am filled with glee;
The visitor ahead is no stranger to me.

Have you any clue who this visitor could be?
Yes! Its Ramadhan, the month of mercy.
The pious and righteous can't await its arrival;
Others seem to greet it, with waves of denial.

For Allah (SWT) we fast from dawn to dusk;
For Him our breath is the fragrance of musk.
The Muslims who pray and fast with zest;
Are aware of the rewards of this month manifest.

Throughout this month we weep and repent;
Now is the time to strongly lament.
And those who shun this sacred month;
on the Day of Reckoning will face the brunt.

In the last ten nights, hides the Night of Decree;
Allah (SWT) then awaits for his slaves to plea.
The angels descend with Gabriel (AS) in the lead;
To check on the steadfast and record every deed.

A feeling of grief now fills my heart;
As the month of Ramadhan will soon depart.
So lets make a start and worship Him alone;
Now that the worth of this month is known.

305 test over

Ok suddenly I felt like blogging. Test 1 for electeng305 went well today. Alhamdulillah. Thank you Allah. There is just heaps of opamp circuit analysis that need to be done before the test. Most of us thought it would be a killer paper. But alhamdulillah, it was not that bad. Dr Nitish was quite right when he said the test will not be that challenging. One down, one more to go. Power systems test coming up this Thursday. Then, mid sem break coming. I shouldn’t be calling it mid sem break. It will rather be ‘design project’ completion week? Speaking about design again, Dr Nitish’s design class nowadays is more or less like a motivation class. Not much detail on design project was presented. He talks more about attitude as an engineer and working life etc. So for that reason, I find design class relaxing, as in not having to use my brain capacity to its maximum. Hehe. But doing design outside design class on the other hand is really torturing. Hopefully things will turn out well soon insyaAllah. May Allah guide me in everything that I do.

Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear, grant us forgiveness and have mercy on us. You are our Protector. Help us against those who deny the truth. (2:286)

By the way, Ramadhan has been good so far. Alhamdulillah. Everyone seemed to ‘berlumba-lumba mengerjakan kebajikan’, which is really good. Only if everyday is Ramadhan…hmmm..

These few days since Ramadhan starts, I can feel the ‘disappearance’ of the syaitans because everyone seemed so nice to each other. Hehe. Okey, I have to stop here.

Alhamdulillah, Allah has again given me the chance to meet with the most awaited guest by every muslim that is Ramadhan. I am really thankful to Allah for this great opportunity. Despite the busy hectic days as a uni student, I will and I must try to spend enough time to grab all the opportunity I have during this Ramadhan. Ramadhan is definitely a BONUS for all of us. The reward for each and every good deed you do in Ramadhan is multiple times of that during other months. Subahanallah. Imagine if you perform ibadah during ‘malam lailatulqadar’, the reward equals as if you perform ibadah for 83 years and 4 months! Subahanallah. That is like your whole life! Allah is the Entirely Merciful that He opens a lot of opportunity for us to be a better muslim. The main purpose of living on earth is definitely to perform ibadah to Allah. But as human being, it must be really hard to fill each and every day of your life 24/7 with ibadah starting from the day you are born until the day you had your last breath. Even to allocate 12hours a day to perform ibadah to Allah sounds tough for most people. But with the bonus in Ramadhan which is ‘malam lailatulqadar’, you are rewarded with pahala as if you are doing ibadah for your whole life. That is definitely a really really good deal. But, again it is not as easy as it sounds. To be able to ‘meet’ with lailatulqadar, you have to be really consistent from the very first day of Ramadhan. Don’t wait until the 10 last day of Ramadhan to only start searching for it.

Abu Hurairah (raa) relates the Messenger of Allah (saas) said when one Ramadan came:
"A blessed month has arrived. Observing it in fasting is mandated on you (the believers). During this month, the gates of Paradise will be opened and the gates of Hellfire will be closed. The evil ones (Shayaatin) will be handcuffed. In it there is one night, during which worship is better than worship in a thousand months. Whoever is denied its blessings has been denied the biggest blessing."

Okey, I have less than 30 minutes to write something here. Uni days are getting more hectic. Phase 1 interview for the design project is coming up really soon. More tests lining up next week. As far as I am concern, this semester might be the most hectic semester in my uni life. Countless hours is spent on the design project. Speaking about design project, things are starting to progress well Alhamdulillah. But this design thingy really does make my mood swing. At one point I will feel really happy with my group’s achievement and suddenly at other times I just felt left behind. Having to work with group members of not my choice is really challenging for me. One thing I learn is to be brave to say whatever you think is right to say. Don’t keep conflicts to yourself. Clarify them in a proper way. This design project has also taught me a lot about patience. And I really have to stop making assumptions and having expectations on other people.

internship

Yesterday, I received an email saying that one of my internship applications has been accepted. Alhamdulillah. I am extremely thankful to Allah for always answering my prayers. One after another, miracles took place in my life. And those miracles definitely come from the All Mighty Allah. Ever since I started to not just know Islam, but understand Islam, I am appreciating life even more. And again I thank Allah for that.

There is always a reason behind everything that happened in your life. If you happen to encounter something that makes you feel really sad, you should be thankful to Allah for the fact that He wants you to remember Him and always pray to Him.

Anyway, my first session of tutoring went well Alhamdulillah. Design project progressing slowly. Nothing really significant happened at uni for the past few days.

Just a short message to friends out there: appreciate things you have in your life while you have them in front of your eyes.

I am really missing my late mum. It really has been a long time but the memories are still there. Semoga kita bertemu di syurgaNya… insyaAllah..

Okey, I got to get back to control system oasis questions. Tests awaiting next week.

Things are starting to get busy right now. But still, I don’t want this blog to be abandoned. So I decided to write a little update of what’s going on at Uni.

It’s only the second week but I really need to do a lot of catch up with my studies. With the design project starting to take place, my days are getting more hectic. Had a couple of meetings with my group members and things are working a bit slow because the whole idea of the design concept is still not in picture. There is really a huge ‘inertia’ to start on a project and get it running fast. InsyaAllah more ideas will come as the project progresses.

Tomorrow will be my first day of tutoring for this semester. But still I have not get my contract ready because my work permit is not yet settled. I need a JP to verify my work permit. I have actually pay 3 visits to the JP office but it was freaking full! During my third visit, I really don’t mind waiting but it turns out that only limited number of people get to see the JP in a day. Urrghhh. But yeah, sabar itu separuh dari iman.. sabar nadhiya…sabar…

Wahai orang-orang beriman, mohonlah pertolongan dari Allah dengan sabar dan solat. Sungguh, Allah berserta orang-orang yang sabar. [al-Baqarah, 153]

Another thing that keeps me really busy for the past few days is internship hunting! I have been looking for internship everywhere on the internet and spending a lot of my super buzz credit to contact those employers in Malaysia. I really hope this year’s internship will be a really beneficial one to me. Not to say that my previous internship programmes are not good enough but I just hope that this time, it will be the best since this will be my last chance to perform internship before I graduate.

so that's all for now. nad kz will soon spend a lot of time alone at home since both her housemate will be migrating to ug2/ug3 labs. huhu. so, rakan2, rajin2 lah jenguk housemate saya sorang ni ye. hehehehe

junior engineers?

Design project for second semester will be starting soon. Our lecturer, Dr Nitish Patel has put us in groups of four. Alhamdulillah, I am satisfied with my group. Hope everything will work out well until this design project ends insyaAllah. And as usual, I’ll be visiting the ug2/ug3 labs very very often soon. Last time fareha was always there to accompany me since we were in the same group. This time, I need to be really independent and strong and brave! Being the only girl in the group is also a challenge to me. This is the time where everyone really has to get out of the comfort zone.

Junior engineers, that’s what Dr Patel love to call us. Hehe. It’s kind of motivating sometimes, to be called engineers at this very early stage. Huhu. He is really trying to make us work as if we are in the real engineering world where we have to deal with any unexpected projects with any unexpected engineers. Dr Patel is scary in certain ways. And sarcastic too. He could be really helpful to his students who seemed to put enough effort to search for extra info and understand a particular topic on their own. And he could be really stingy to his students who simply ask questions without doing any own investigation or research. He teaches people the hard way. But his whole point is to produce really good ‘products’ of Auckland University. I should be really optimistic about his attitude if I want this design project to be a success! huhu

So to my EE friends out there, if you are reading this, I wish you all the best with the so called very-challenging design project. And always remember the 3 key word:

USAHA, DOA, TAWAKAL.

First day of the new semester is fine Alhamdulillah, except that I didn’t notice that my watch was 5 minutes late than the uni’s clock. So, yeah, far and I was a little bit late to the first lecture of the first semester and the class was close to full when we arrived. Huhu.

The one thing that is bothering me at the moment is having to choose between 2 elective subject. I still have not make a final decision between compsys304 and electeng309. The first elective is very much interesting and having the knowledge in this area would be an advantage for my internship application later on since many internship that I have come across requires knowledge of this subject. The other subject is equally good and I sort of have gone through the material during my internship last year which basically covers power distribution, circuit breakers, substation engineering etc. So, the problem here, compsys304, although interesting, I am just afraid that I could not bear the workload for that subject. Assignments will involve a lot of coding. Coding is interesting but it is really time consuming. Hmmm.. And as for power system, I don’t think I’ll be doing any advanced power topics next year so I don’t really see the point of taking this subject. But I may be wrong. Maybe I judge a little too early. However, I believe that whatever subject that I’ll be taking soon has been arranged by Allah for me. Allah knows best.

But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows while you know not. [Surah al-Baqarah, 216]

For anyone out there facing any problem like this or any other kind of problem related to decision making, solat istikharah is the best options. Istikharah is to seek guidance from Allah when one is faced with a problem to which no solution is apparent. To ask Allah to guide you to the path best for you concerning an affair with two halal options. Anytime a Muslim is making a decision, he or she should seek Allah's guidance and wisdom. Allah alone knows what is best for us, and there may be good in what we perceive as bad, and bad in what we perceive as good.

Imam an-Nawawi holds that "after performing the istikharah, a person must do what he is wholeheartedly inclined to do and feels good about doing and should not insist on doing what he had desired to do before making the istikharah. And if his feelings change, he should leave what he had intended to do, otherwise he is not completely leaving the choice to Allah, and would not be honest in seeking aid from Allah's power and knowledge. Sincerity in seeking Allah's choice, means that one should completely leave what he himself had desired or determined."

"Put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him)." [Surah al-Imran; 3:159]

Alhamdulillah, semester 2 of 2009 will start tomorrow, insyaAllah..

For some people including me, it might be a little bit hard to switch the ‘holiday mode’ back into ‘study mode’. But that’s normal I guess. Whatever it is, we have to appreciate life as a student. As far as I'm concern, most people who had already left the ‘student life’ admit that studying is a lot easier and fun than working. Even my dad says so.

It’s the nature of human being (most of them) to only appreciate things which are no longer in front of their eyes. What I mean is, you might not appreciate the life as a student until you’ve started working. But I am not trying to say that working life is so much boring or whatsoever. I am just trying to remind my dear friends out there(and myself too) to be thankful for each and every second you have now and don't complain much.

If you spend your time wisely, you'll have ample of time to do other stuff (good deeds that can benefit others) during your study life. Despite the busy, hectic life as a student, make sure you squeeze in some time for the benefit of others. Spend enough time to strengthen your relationship with Allah. Don’t be the type of person who only turns to Allah during hardness and sadness but forgets Him during time of happiness.

“Maka ingatlah kepada-Ku, Aku pun akan ingat kepadamu. Bersyukurlah kepada-Ku, dan janganlah kamu ingkar kepada-Ku.” [Al-Baqarah: 152]

A friendly reminder

Assalamualaikum…

Yesterday, 2 major things happen to me. Let me highlight both of them here in my blog

1. I went to Uni early in the morning to submit the Part 1 Assistance Centre Tutor form. It was a little rainy that morning. Before reaching the 1st entrance to the engineering building, as shown in the picture, I was busy checking the details on my application form, making sure I got everything written down correctly. AND, as soon as I took the small steps heading into the building, I slipped and fell on my back! Ouchhhh! Yes, it does hurt A LOT at that moment. For few seconds I was shocked by the pain. The floor was wet and it was cold. I then forced myself to get up and enter the building. Submitted the form and I quickly returned back home.

My friend N, had already reminded me of this before. She went through the same experience before. And as far as I can remember, I was always being careful walking at that area, esp during rainy days. But things happened. However, I am thankful to Allah that the pain is not so obvious anymore.

So to friends out there, please please be careful while walking at this area especially when it’s raining.

2. The second one is good news I should say. The revised result for the engsci313 paper was finally out yesterday. Alhamdulillah, an increase in grade.

When I initially checked my results, I was a little bit shock with the engsci313 grade. But I accepted it. I have been praying for good results and I am sure all of you out there have been doing the same thing. I knew Allah never fails to answer my prayers so I learned to accept things even it might be hard for me.

Allah answers prayers in 3 ways. He says YES and gives what you want. He says NO and gives you something better. He says WAIT and gives you the best in His own time.

Few days after the release of the results, my 313 lecturer emailed his students telling that there was a serious error in the results posted earlier and there will be changes to the students’ grade. Some will remain the same grade, some will increase, and some will decrease. He reported that it was the first time for such error to take place after 5 years. At that very moment, I knew there was still hope! And yes, Alhamdulillah, miracles do happen. And miracles come from Allah =)

Alhamdulillah.. praise be to Allah that I am back here in Auckland safely. The trip to Australia which was about to be cancelled in the first place turn out to be a wonderful and memorable trip insyaAllah.

A lot has been learn throughout the trip. Learning process doesn’t only mean reading thick-hard cover electronics or transmission lines books but learning as a whole means improving your skills in life. Learning how to tolerate with others, learning how to socialize the proper way as a muslim, learning to appreciate and observe and many more is something you can’t get directly from the books.

Well, the trip with beloved friends(far, nad, nanad) started on the 1^st of july. We depart from Auckland to Brisbane around 10am. The flight was a little bit delayed but yeah, its blue saver so, understood and expected. The 5 hours flight to Brisbane felt very long for me as I was seating in between two strangers. I know I should have booked the seat earlier during the purchase of the tickets. Hmmmph. So there was this one kiwi guy seating beside me in the plane heading to Brisbane for a job interview. I was really really uncomfortable with the smell of the beer that he was drinking. When he finished one, I thought that was the end of it but then, few minutes later he returned back to his seat with a new one. Urgghh. Cans after cans. My friend said maybe he was nervous about the job interview which might be right I guess. I felt relieved when we arrived Brisbane since I could finally escape from the very unpleasant smell of beer. Huh.

So we spent 4 days in Brisbane, in gold coast to be precise. We saved a lot on accommodation since we stayed at a friend’s house. The hospitality we received was totally great. May Allah bless Huda and housemates. During one of our visit to the theme parks which is Dream World, there was this documentary show at the Imax showing the technology of outer space. The documentary was a really wonderful one, subahanallah. Watching the documentary made me felt as if I was the one in outer space. The screen was really huge and it felt real. The image of earth being captured from outer space was superb. I was really amazed by Allah’s creation. The fact that there are so many things to be discovered on earth shows how amazing Allah is. His knowledge on every single thing on earth is HUGE. As stated in the Quran...

Dan seandainya pohon-pohon di bumi menjadi pena dan lautan menjadi tinta, ditambahkan kepadanya tujuh lautan lagi setelah keringnya, nescaya tidak akan habis-habisnya dituliskan kalimat-kalimat Allah. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Perkasa, Maha Bijaksana. (Surah Luqman, ayat 27)

Early this morning, Far, Nad and I went to landings to play tennis. Credits to S and friends for lending us your tennis rackets. We have been waiting to play tennis for weeks or for months I should say. It’s really hard to find spare time during the semester. So this semester break is a really good time for us to get back in action. hehe. Last time boboy tried to make me play tennis with him during summer break Malaysia but I think I just gave up too early. Now that I’ve played with my friends in Auckland, I am starting to enjoy the game. So boboy, wait until I come back ok? hehe. It’s not that bad after all. Besides, getting involved in activities like this helps to fulfill one of the characteristics of an individual Muslim which is to stay healthy . =)

Having to fulfill all ten of them might not be that easy. But remember it’s your EFFORT that counts. Allah knows the content of your heart more than you do. So if you are really sincere and really want to improve for the sake of Allah, Allah will make it easy for you. =)

Assalamualaikum...

After I have been blogging for more than 4 year (not a consistent blogger though), I finally decided to start fresh again! a whole new blog with a whole new spirit! This blog is where I will keep record of exciting things happening around me as a uni student for the remaining 1.5 years. I also hope to spread useful knowledge, spread the words of Islam and motivate people through my writing. InsyaAllah. Hope this blog will be beneficial to the readers and help them to be a better person.
